Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information, your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google; we never receive your Google password.
• Travel and document details, the passport(s) and nationality you add, your country of residence, and the trips you create (origin, destination, dates, number of travelers, cabin and stay preferences, and similar planning inputs).
• Bookings and transactions, the flights, stays, and activities you select. Payments for any paid Akelah features are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
• Usage and device information, IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and actions taken, collected to operate, secure, and improve the service.

We use your information to:

• Provide and personalize trip planning, including visa and mobility intelligence and flight, stay, and activity options;
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
• Record your selections and connect you with booking partners;
• Send service messages and trip reminders;
• Analyze usage to maintain and improve the service; and
• Comply with legal obligations and protect the service and our users.

We share information only as needed to run Akelah, and we do not sell your personal information. We share with:

• Authentication providers, we use Auth0 and Google to sign you in securely.
• Product analytics provider, we use PostHog’s US Cloud to understand feature usage and improve Akelah. We limit the personal and sensitive information sent to it.
• Travel data and inventory providers, to return real flights, stays, activities, and visa and entry information, we send the relevant trip details (such as route, dates, and nationality for visa checks) to third-party travel data providers.
• AI processing providers, we use third-party AI services to generate planning guidance. We send only the trip context required for the task and avoid sharing identifiers that are not needed.
• Booking and affiliate partners, when you choose to book, we direct you to a partner; your purchase there is governed by that partner’s terms and privacy policy, and we may earn a referral commission.
• Infrastructure providers, cloud hosting, database, and email-delivery providers that operate the service on our behalf.
• Legal and safety, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.

Akelah’s core purpose requires your passport and nationality to determine visa and entry requirements. We use this information solely to provide and personalize your travel planning. You can view and remove the passports on your account at any time in Account → Passports, and deleting your account removes this data subject to the retention section below.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the service is used. Product analytics can be turned off at any time in Account → Settings → Privacy. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. We retain limited records longer where required for legal, security, or accounting purposes. You can request deletion as described below.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information directly in your account settings, or contact us to exercise these rights.

You can opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages; we will still send essential service messages related to your account and trips.

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Akelah operates globally and works with providers in different countries. Where we transfer information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.

Akelah is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
